| Accessible Fitness will be
offering workshops on the following topics for disability management to
improve the quality of life. Additional workshops may be available. Please ask about other interests you may have. Back and Abdominal Stability The stability ball can be your body’s best friend. A strong abdominal area is the key to developing a sturdy back, because stomach muscles provide support for posture and movement. Posture and Stretching Stretching has many beneficial factors. Stretching reduces muscle tension and tightness and decreased pain caused by muscle spasms and poor posture. It helps with increasing range of motion, flexibility, and promotes circulation. Balance and Gait Training Through balance and gait training, it helps to reduce falls and a person can re-stabilize themselves in order to be more functional in society. Stress Management Our goal is not to eliminate stress but to learn how to manage it through different techniques such as breathing, meditation and positive thinking.

Resistance Training Resistance training helps reduce the development of chronic illnesses, increased muscle strength, increased bone density, body fat, enhanced performance of everyday tasks, and improve balance and stability. Adaptive Yoga Yoga increases flexibility and tones muscles, tissues, ligaments and joints. It boosts metabolism and helps with weight loss. Yoga will relax, strengthen and reshape the body. Function of nervous system, internal organs, glands and hormone secretion are improved. As the body becomes more balanced and stronger, we can prevent illness, injury and reduce the process of aging. Besides strengthening the body, Yoga will heal our mind and emotions In-Home Exercises We would be discussing exercises and techniques that can be done in the convenience of your home by using household items, such as cans, chairs, benches, and couch in order to improve function, strength, and flexibility. |
