You know that in spite of the current world atmosphere, multiple sclerosis never lets up. Well, you will be glad to know that the same goes for our dedicated and generous MS WALK participants and volunteers. Approximately 1200 walkers and 150 volunteers came out on Saturday, April 5th and Sunday, April 6th to show their support and raise awareness of multiple sclerosis. We were blessed once again with beautiful weather on Saturday and Sunday. eBay was our start point in San Jose where we were joined by Laura Garcia-Cannon and Brent Cannon from NBC11's Bay Area Today, Brandi Chastain from the San Jose CyberRays, and Assemblywoman Rebecca Cohn. Carla Hines and other Chapter staff were presented with a Resolution by Assemblywoman Rebecca Cohn recognizing the efforts of the chapter to end the effects of MS. At the finish line at Los Gatos High School, we enjoyed fantastic entertainment by Ross Taylor and roving magician Sam Haine while eating the best food at any walk yet thanks to Whole Foods and their many generous vendors.

Marty Corcoran, one of the walkers from the Accessible Fitness Team was recommended to start using a wheelchair because she had fallen and knocked out several teeth. She did not give in to her disease and started exercising consistently at Accessible Fitness and was able to finish the MS walk this year, and plans to do it again in 2004. She is an inspiration to all of us!
